COVID-19 has highlighted the compounding crises of wealth inequality, racism, and climate disaster. Policy choices are being made right now that will shape our society for years, if not decades to come. More than ever we need to ensure the protection and support of all communities towards an equitable and sustainable recovery.

The Pledge

I pledge to put people first and work for a #JustRecovery:

  1. Protect all workers and provide healthcare for all.
  2. Provide economic relief directly to the people, not corporate executives – We need to provide economic relief to communities most severely impacted by the impacts of COVID and climate change.
  3. Protect our democracy – We must ensure that people can safely participate in the voting process. We must protect and restore funding to the United States Postal Service.
  4. Prioritize hardest hit communities – We must ensure recovery efforts from this pandemic prioritize low income communities, communities of color, and essential workers who have suffered the impacts from both climate change and the pandemic. Just recovery efforts must also be long term, and consider climate resiliency.
  5. Hold Trump and politicians accountable – Trump and his administration have utterly failed to handle this pandemic or respond to climate disasters during his entire term. Thousands of lives have been endangered or lost at the hands of this administration, including all workers without protective equipment. We must hold them accountable for the loss of life.
  6. Stop Fossil Fuel expansion – As the pandemic has unfolded, Big Oil and Gas have rushed to line their pockets with bailout funds that should be going to people and not polluters. We must prohibit the construction of fossil fuel infrastructure and other polluting projects especially as agencies such as the EPA and PHIMSA have relaxed their regulations and monitoring under the Trump presidency.
  7. Invest in a Green New Deal – We must work towards economic recovery which builds the foundations of a Green New Deal.
