Washington, DC — Today, 350 Action, a national organization working to change the politics of climate change, endorsed Democratic candidate Jess King (PA-11) for U.S. Congress. She outlined her plans to challenge the fossil fuel industry and support renewable energy solutions to the climate crisis in her questionnaire here.
“Jess King is running an inspiring progressive campaign challenging the political power of fossil fuel billionaires in a deep-red district,” 350 Action Executive Director May Boeve said. “Her strong stance against the Atlantic Sunrise and Mariner East pipelines exemplifies the support communities need in resisting fossil fuels. Having more candidates like Jess King running won’t just shift political winds, they’ll help make a safe climate and a renewable energy economy that serves us all possible.”
King detailed the impact of the fossil fuel industry on her own community in her questionnaire response, saying, “Fracked gas pipelines threaten our land and water just so a few oil and gas executives can get a little richer. When our economy is rigged to favor the big corporations, our homes, our health, and our planet are threatened.” She added, “We need to overhaul the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and make sure that it works on behalf of the people, not fossil fuel billionaires.”
350 Action is empowering voters across the country to make a direct impact in the most important climate races in the nation. This year, 350 Action has also endorsed U.S. congressional candidates Deb Haaland (NM-1), Greg Edwards (PA-7), Kaniela Ing (HI-1), and Thomas Heckroth (IA-1), and gubernatorial candidates Ben Jealous (D-MD), Cathy Glasson (D-IA), Andrew Gillum (D-FL), and Bob Massie (D-MA).
