350 Action on Election Day 2017: “A direct rejection of Trump’s hateful, climate-denying agenda”

Washington, DC — In response to the results of gubernatorial elections and ballot measure votes happening across the country on Election Day today, 350 Action Executive Director May Boeve gave the following response:

“The election results in New Jersey and Virginia are a direct rejection of Trump’s hateful, climate-denying agenda. New Jersey Governor-elect Phil Murphy has spoke out against the Penneast pipeline and fracking in the Garden State. In Virginia, Governor-elect Ralph Northam has opposed offshore drilling, been a strong proponent of clean energy, and challenged white supremacy. With hurricanes, wildfires, and rising sea levels threatening cities and states, climate change is a major cross-cutting issue in elections. Progressive candidates should embrace platforms that advocate real climate action — opposing all new fossil fuel projects and committing to 100% clean energy for all.”
