350 Action Video Features Bernie Sanders on the 2016 Election and Climate Change

Washington, DC — Today, 350 Action released a video titled “Bernie’s Not Sitting This Out. Neither Can We” featuring Senator Bernie Sanders talking about the importance of climate change in this election, and the need to elect the candidate that we can push toward bold action for the climate: Hillary Clinton. With the release of the video, 350 Action Executive Director May Boeve issued the following statement:

“This election really is unlike any other we’ve experienced, not only for the fate of climate change and its impact on our communities, but for continued fights on so many justice fronts. As Bernie Sanders said, in this election the choices are very clear. We need to vote for Hillary Clinton so we can defeat Donald Trump. This isn’t about electing a leader we will follow, we want to elect a politician we can lead. Voting is not valentine, it’s a chess move. On November 8th, we vote; on November 9th, our work to transform this country continues.

“Hillary Clinton isn’t where she needs to be on climate policy — she still supports fracking and natural gas, and she hasn’t spoken out on the destructive Dakota Access Pipeline. But she has a proposal to address climate change, and we’ve pushed her toward bolder policies in the past. Once she’s elected, we’ll redouble our efforts.

“On the other hand, Donald Trump thinks climate change is a hoax and would reverse many critical decisions in our fight, like the Paris Climate Accords and the Keystone XL Pipeline. He’s also proven time and time again that he’s not interested in a democratic process. If it’s not his way, he says it’s rigged against him, and we cannot let that outlook take over the highest office in the country.”
