350 Action on Gwen Graham Defending her Keystone XL Vote: “There’s no such thing as a pro-pipeline progressive”

Washington, DC — Following Florida gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham’s defense of her vote in favor of the Keystone XL pipeline, 350 Action Executive Director May Boeve gave this response:

“Saying you voted for the Keystone XL pipeline to protect the environment is a ridiculous defense for a reckless decision. We can’t afford a Democratic governor who sides with Trump’s fossil fuel agenda instead of taking bold climate action. Gwen Graham’s choice to support Keystone XL, when an international movement was urging her to do the exact opposite, is a disgrace. There’s no such thing as a pro-pipeline progressive.”

350 Action has endorsed Democrat Andrew Gillum for Governor of Florida. You can read Gillum’s answers to 350 Action’s climate questionnaire here.

This year, 350 Action is empowering voters across the country to make a direct impact in the most important climate races in the nation. This year, 350 Action has also endorsed U.S. congressional candidates Deb Haaland (NM-1), Kaniela Ing (HI-1), Jess King (PA-11) and Thomas Heckroth (IA-1), and gubernatorial candidates Ben Jealous (D-MD), Cathy Glasson (D-IA), Andrew Gillum (D-FL), and Bob Massie (D-MA).
